ALVIN LUSTIG TYPOGRAPHY BOOKLET
ALVIN LUSTIG TYPOGRAPHY BOOKLET
Objective:
Create and print a nesting booklet centering around an assigned mid-century artist. Convey the artist’s design style in your typographical layout.
Project Description:
The booklet, “Novel Innovations,” gives a brief history of designer Alvin Lustig and his ideas concerning design. Lustig’s style was new for his time and often experimental; these traits are reflected in the font chosen for the body copy, quotes, and headers and in the asymmetrical margins and columns. The front cover is mirrored by the back with the use of a rectangle with the title being cut out of it. The colors are based on Lustig’s book covers and other works featured in the booklet. The quotes are formatted to complement the image shown on the opposite side of the spread.
