PROMOTIONAL BOOKLET
Objective:
Choose a subject matter and design a booklet with a goal to entertain, educate, and/or promote. Booklets should contain at least three chapters, three typographic elements, and three spreads with an AR component. Spread layouts, booklet construction, and AR component should enhance the content.
Project Description:
This booklet contains transcripts from REI. Co–Op’s Camp Monsters Podcast which tells the stories of cryptids and legends from across the US. The booklet aims to entertain hikers, campers, and like–minded people with old campfire stories, as well as promote REI and the podcast. The booklets are fashioned to look like travel journals in order to immerse the reader in the stories.
Construction: The booklet is broken into 3 smaller booklets, about 32 pages each. Each booklet has a single transcript that focuses on its own monster. The booklet contains original illustrations that take inspiration from the official illustrations (seen in the afterword), linocuts, and charcoal.
The booklets are saddle–stitched to show the booklets are not too precious and can be carried on hikes, camping trips, and other places where they can experience wear and tear.
AR: The animated components have an old school, frame–by–frame style to help enhance the rugged, campfire tale feel. The audio used is taken from the podcast itself, with minimal sound effects added.
